WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T announced today it is working with the USO this holiday season to distribute 10,000 free prepaid calling cards to servicemen and women recovering in hospitals in the U.S. and abroad.
The retail value of the 100-minute AT&T PrePaid cards is more than $100,000.
"We know these cards are particularly appreciated during the holidays and we're working with the USO to get these cards to hospitals that need them most and as soon as possible," said Lou Addeo, president of AT&T Government Solutions. "We want to make sure every injured serviceman and woman is able to make a free phone call home during the holidays."
"AT&T's donation of cards will be greatly appreciated by service members recovering at area hospitals," stated Elaine Rogers, president of the USO of Metropolitan Washington. "Cards will also be forwarded to units with deployed troops from the national capital region. AT&T continues to be one of our greatest supporters."
AT&T has made numerous donations of prepaid cards over the last three years, most of which have been included in care packages for servicemen and women as part of Operation USO Care Package. As of last month, AT&T had donated more than 400,000 cards to this program for a retail value of more than $6 million.
