Queen’s and Onestop Launch Digital Safety Information Network
Onestop Media and Queen’s University recently launched Canada’s first campus-wide digital information network enabling the university to communicate news and emergency updates to students, staff and faculty on the move between classes and labs or while grabbing a coffee at the cafeteria.
Using an across-campus network of 22 LCD strategically located screens, the Queen’s Out-of-Home Digital Information Network provides both location specific and campus-wide information, keeping students and faculty up to date on departmental and campus-wide developments, upcoming campus events and national news. More than 80 staff members from 30 campus units help to update the network via a secure administration tool. Covering 16 high-traffic locations across campus, Queen’s DIN is also the latest enhancement to the University’s emergency response system.
Michael Girgis, president of Onestop Media, said: “Digital Information Networks like the one now launched at Queen’s provide modern day infrastructure to support quick dissemination of information. It is this type of communication infrastructure that is helping to keep communities informed and entertained on a day-to-day basis and safe in emergency circumstances.”
