IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Logoplaste today announced the signing of a five-year information technology (IT) services contract. In support of Logopaste's international growth strategy, IBM will manage Logopaste's IT infrastructure.
Logoplaste focuses on the development of innovative solutions for manufacturing solid plastic packages and serves market-leading clients in various sectors around the world. Due to Logoplaste's functional and geographical dispersion, they will utilize IT to support its business with greater reliability and security. Logoplaste selected IBM to provide a flexible IT infrastructure with the ability to meet its future business needs.
As part of the agreement, IBM will manage the SAP and electronic mail systems, to be installed in an IBM data center in Portugal and serving a total of thirteen countries. IBM will also oversee the administration of several distributed servers, as well as provide business recovery services infrastructure. Through the implementation of optimized IT management processes, the IBM solution will provide a more efficient IT expense structure and a flexible, scalable and reliable IT infrastructure.
According to Alexandre Relvas, Logoplaste CEO, "IT plays a very important role in supporting business. For Logoplaste, this role is emphasized by fast international growth. The IT infrastructure management transition to IBM, a company recognized for its experience in this business model and its global performance capacity, will ensure Logoplaste has a secure and reliable IT infrastructure, which is hard to guarantee with an in-house model. We have created this partnership with the objective to assure the continuity of IT processes to support our internationalization strategy."
For Antonio Raposo de Lima, IBM Portugal manager, Global Technology Services, "In the current global world, companies face enormous competitive pressure. The strong international growth that Logoplaste has been experiencing reflects their ability to differentiate themselves in this market. We believe that the partnership between IBM and Logoplaste will help reinforce their path to becoming a global market leader."
The agreement was signed in August of 2007.
