OTTAWA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 31, 2003--International Datacasting (TSX:IDC) announced today that it has received an order from a major international news agency to provide advanced satellite receiver equipment for a new media distribution network serving Europe, the Middle East and Africa. For competitive reasons the customer declined to be identified.
IDC's SuperFlex SRA2100R satellite router appliance has been selected for this new network and will be used to deliver photos, graphics, and news stories to subscribers in those regions. Key to the selection of the SRA2100R was its high throughput (speeds of up to 72Mb/s) and advanced networking functionality, along with its integrated IP-level encryption and conditional access capabilities.
IDC President and CEO Ron Clifton said, "We are pleased to be able to help our customer transition their network from a lower speed narrowband network that used older proprietary technology. Our state-of-the-art broadband DVB-IP (Internet Protocol) system allows the customer to dramatically expand their service offering.
"These are the kinds of cutting-edge applications that are driving the market for broadband satellite infrastructure. Given the current economic climate, solutions that help our customers save money and build a strong business model are more important than ever."
The order is valued at approximately $2.25 million CDN and shipments are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
