GERMANTOWN, Md., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ — Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the world’s leading provider of broadband satellite network solutions and services, today announced that Bentley Walker has ordered from its subsidiary, HNS, Ltd., an additional HX System Network Operations Centre (NOC), a compact, cost-effective satellite solution for smaller networks that provides high Quality of Service (QoS). The HX platform employs the most efficient implementation of the DVB-S2 industry standard including Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), and is fully compliant with IPoS (IP over Satellite), the first global satellite industry standard approved by TIA in North America, and ETSI and ITU in Europe.

Anthony Walker, CEO of Bentley Walker Ltd, commented, “The purchase of this second HX system builds on the success we have had providing services since late July over our initial HX system.”

This second deployment of the HX System, as with the first, will operate from Bentley Walker’s Turin teleport over the EUTELSAT SESAT2 satellite. Bentley Walker will be developing new services that will utilize the advanced HX functionality and will take advantage of the high power of the SESAT 2 Spot Beam in Afghanistan to offer higher speeds with smaller antenna sizes.

Optimized for smaller networks, the HX design builds upon a solid and field-proven foundation, leveraging many of the features and functionality of the widely deployed Hughes HN broadband satellite platform. The advanced bandwidth management features of the HX System give operators the ability to efficiently allocate satellite bandwidth as a “virtual pool.” If a customer or group of terminals is not fully utilizing their allocated bandwidth, the HX System reallocates this bandwidth to others, while assuring that bandwidth will be available when needed.

“Bentley Walker’s order reflects its initial success in offering services over the HX and is indicative of the market’s overall acceptance of this powerful platform,” said Mike Darcy, president of Hughes Europe. “Hughes is the first to make DVB-S2 technology with ACM available in the marketplace, and our goal is to provide systems with the highest availability and most efficient bandwidth management, whether for large or small networks.”
