Jajah Launches VoIP Services Without Internet

Internet telephony services company Jajah has launched a new voice over internet protocol service, the Jajah Direct. It is designed to make free or low-cost international calls to any phone. The service covers major US cities in addition to 122 countries.
According to the company, the service requires users to sign up through Jajah's website or its local access number. Users then receive a local number for each number they want to dial. This number can be stored in a phone or address book and calls can be made to the contact's newly assigned local number for free or at reduced internet calling rates.
Roman Scharf, co-founder of Jajah said, "With the introduction of Jajah Direct we eliminate complicated VoIP solutions and archaic offline prepaid calling cards single-handedly."
The company also claimed that the clarity of calls through this service was similar as standard phones. It also differs from those offered by other pure-play vendors in the VoIP services market such as Skype and Vonage since it does not require a broadband connection.
The company also collaborated with Jangl, on November 15, 2007 to develop product and services for internet voice market.
