Posted on: Tuesday, 27 November 2007, 12:00 CST

US-based IT and software company AsiaInfo Holdings has been awarded a contract from fixed-line telecom operator China Telecom to upgrade its online self-service center for nine provinces in northern China.

Under the terms of agreement, AsiaInfo will provide China Telecom with Telecom Web Self-Service (TWSS) solution to improve account management functions and general account servicing and self-service capabilities.

Steve Zhang president and chief executive at AsiaInfo said: "This project serves as an excellent opportunity to deepen our relationship with China Telecom in the CRM space. As Internet usage in China continues to grow rapidly, user-friendly and efficient online self-service centers are becoming a key component of telecom CRM systems."

AsiaInfo is currently providing business support systems/operating support systems (BSS/OSS) to China's telecommunications operators. BSS/OSS includes customer relationship management (CRM) systems, billing solutions, and decision support systems. The company also provides BSS systems for 9 of China Mobile's subsidiaries.

Earlier this month, Asiainfo was awarded a contract from China Telecom to develop Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) in China's Xinjiang province.
