Nov. 29–Chad Austin and his partners at Studio 37 audio/visual are accustomed to working into the wee hours of the morning in the name of creativity.

They help clients produce commercials, videos, music recordings and anything else that requires audio and visual work.

The studio partners got together about five months ago to provide affordable services to clients who don’t have big budgets to use larger studios.

“There’s a business out there for recording and video,” Austin said. “Our focus is to bring higher-end services at a low-end price, and we hope to build our reputation with our pricing.” About the business: Studio 37 audio/visual is a multidisciplinary audio and visual design firm featuring two full-service studios. It provides audio production in studio recordings and engineering. Its video productions specialize in TV spots, DVD authoring and music videos.

Clients can get training videos and books on tapes. Studio 37 also can do recordings for youth sporting events and school productions to put on DVDs. It also has a green room to do special effects and will rent out equipment.

The firm also provides live and staged photography and graphic design work for products such as business cards, magazine ads and Web banners.

Address: 12915 Jones Maltsberger Road, Suite 500, in North Central San Antonio

Hours: Appointments can be made by calling the studio at (210) 842-4310.

What makes it special: Austin said its pricing is great for small businesses. For example, studio time can range about $50 an hour. A basic commercial starts at about $300, and a music video starts at $500.

About the owners: Austin is a musician and has been recording songs for more than 20 years. His band, Rap Rock, will unveil its album early next year, called “Southern Punch.” Austin said Studio 37 is “one big partnership” among its staff, including its creative director, Brandon Thomas Faucett, who specializes in the video work of the business.
