Bell Microproducts and Silicon Image Partner to Bring SteelVine Storage Products to SMB Market

Posted on: Wednesday, 5 January 2005, 09:00 CST

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. , a leader in multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions for the secure transmission and storage of rich digital media, is pleased to announce that Bell Microproducts will be integrating and distributing the SteelVine(TM) SV2000(TM) family of products in the United States, Canada and Latin America.

The SV2000 family of products radically alters the landscape of storage solutions available to small and medium businesses (SMBs). Its simplicity, scalability and reliability -- coupled with performance at very affordable prices -- bring a new class of storage systems into the marketplace. Companies without an IT service infrastructure can quickly take advantage of the ease of use offered by a robust, reliable storage appliance that offers up to two terabytes of storage capacity today. With the simplicity of the SV2000, IT departments can dramatically reduce time-to-storage, while also benefiting from the low total cost of ownership (TCO) of a platform that is affordable, simple to install and configure, simple to manage and inexpensive to service.

Commenting on the agreement, Jimmy Garcia-Meza, Silicon Image vice president, worldwide sales and business development, storage systems, noted, "Bell Microproducts is the leading value-added provider of storage systems and services to the SMB market in America, and we look forward to a successful partnership that will offer highly compelling solutions to this fast-growing and highly underserved market."

Phil Roussey, executive vice president of enterprise marketing at Bell Microproducts, stated, "Silicon Image has a proven track-record delivering SATA-based storage solutions to the marketplace. The SteelVine architecture enables a new category of systems that deliver enterprise-level functionality at a fraction of the cost, and with the simplicity of a true appliance. We are excited about the partnership and the possibilities that SteelVine storage has to offer."

Bell Microproducts will be performing final system integration for the SV2000 family of products and will be marketing the product line through its VAR and Industrial OEM customer network. Bell Microproducts will also provide warranty and enhanced services for the systems.
