December 4, 2007
Repost This

YOUNG people are blending classical opera with urban music in an education project.

Urban Opera will see 15 Glasgow youths taking to the stage this week as part of a new scheme.

The Message, inspired bythe bohemian collective in Puccini’s Opera La Boheme, explores a number of issues facing young adults living in Glasgow.

The artists, who come from India, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Angola, Iran and the Democratic Republic ofCongo, have spent the last six months developing characters and write scenes and lyrics.

The culmination of all their hard work is a performance on Thursday at the ABC2 venue on Sauchiehall Street at 8.30pm.
