LENOIR, N.C., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. today announced a multiyear contract with Furniture Brands International for Virtual Private Network (VPN) services, managed network-based firewall services and AT&T Network-based IP VPN Remote Access (ANIRA) capabilities.
AT&T will help the leading designer, manufacturer and retailer of home furnishings extend services to multiple locations across the Southeast and convert from legacy Frame Relay services to the more efficient and advanced Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) VPN services. The AT&T MPLS solution will allow Furniture Brands to seamlessly mesh different types of networking technologies, enable secure communication among locations that use different communications protocols and ease the integration of legacy network services. In addition, AT&T's managed firewall service will provide Furniture Brands with proactive monitoring 24/7, establishing extensive security capabilities without taxing Furniture Brands' in-house IT personnel.
"We needed to consolidate the communications providers and technologies of Furniture Brands' divisions to establish corporatewide communications and management of our network services," said Bob Hardester, chief information officer, Furniture Brands International. "With this new solution, we now have the tools to operate communications for all of our divisions, with one technology managed by AT&T."
The contract also includes AT&T Business Network (ABN) services and long distance services, as well as AT&T wireless services.
