Apago Expands Offerings With New 'Virtual Job-Ticket' Software for Digital Printing Markets, Adds Eric Roundtree to Development Team

Apago Inc., a software developer for the graphic arts and document management industries, today announces an agreement with Prinux to take over the development and marketing of the company's AcrosuitePRO software product--a powerful set of device-independent plug-ins for Adobe Acrobat that help maximize the productivity of on-demand digital printers. Apago will integrate its toolbox of PDF technologies into AcrosuitePRO, and plans to convert the plug-in into a stand-alone product in 2008. As part of the agreement, Eric Roundtree, founder of Prinux, has joined Apago's software development team.
AcrosuitePRO allows printers to create a single 'virtual job-ticket' describing how a document should be printed, including information about imposition, page size, binding, tab and cover sheets, page and Bates numbers, copies, paper stock, and more. This job-ticket is not specific to a single model of digital printer, as is the case when using vendor-supplied print driver software. Upon printing from within AcrosuitePRO, the virtual job-ticket is converted into printer-specific commands. A single job-ticket can be used for any of the printers supported by AcrosuitePRO, including popular models from Canon, Heidelberg, Hitachi, IKON, Kodak, KonicaMinolta, and Xerox. Apago is shipping the latest version of AcrosuitePRO v.2.6.2 and is providing technical support to current and existing customers.
"Having a software development company like Apago advance AcrosuitePRO will provide a tremendous advantage for customers and digital print vendors alike," comments Eric Roundtree. "I'm excited to be part of the Apago team. I appreciate how Apago embraces new technology and is first-to-market with industry-leading solutions. I'm very impressed with the people and the products they produce."
"We are pleased that Eric has chosen to join Apago. We have been exploring ways to become more involved in the rapidly expanding digital printing market, and AcrosuitePRO complements Apago's current PDF offerings," states Dwight Kelly, president of Apago Inc. "AcrosuitePRO is a great product, Eric is a talented software developer, and we look forward to developing new products together."
In 1995, Eric Roundtree founded Jacksonville-based Treehouse Software, later renamed Prinux, to develop software for the printing industry. A programmer since 1990, Roundtree develops software for both Macintosh and PC platforms. He has a broad range of software development, training, and support experience, providing expertise in copier and printer technologies and workflow efficiency to companies such as Desktop Darkroom, Danka Office Imaging, Hitachi Printing Solutions, and Fidelity Investments. From 2003 through 2005, Roundtree taught graphic arts- and networking-related classes at Waycross College, part of the University System of Georgia.
