Posted on: Friday, 7 December 2007, 09:00 CST

OAKLAND, Calif., Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ --

CORE NEWS FACTS -- imbee.com, the first parent-approved social networking and blogging destination specifically designed for kids from ages 8 to 14 today announced the launch of its second annual toy drive in Cyberspace, proceeds of which will go to the Toys For Tots Program. -- The Toys for Tots program was developed by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. The mission of the program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. -- In order to facilitate the toy drive online, imbee.com created a special holiday blog and then invited its growing community of kids and tweens to post their good wishes for this holiday season. For every child that makes a post, the tween social network will donate a new toy to the Toys for Tots program. At the completion of the toy drive, delivery of all toys will take place at the program's collection center located in Orinda, California. -- The objectives of Toys for Tots are to help needy children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role in the development of one of our nation's most valuable natural resources -- our children; to unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better communities in the future. -- imbee.com is a tween destination that provides a highly controlled, security-based interactive environment where kids can have fun creating or sharing exclusive content with their friends, fellow students and family members. -- imbee.com is the only social network for kids and tweens to offer the most comprehensive suite of security, insight and control tools; providing parents, teachers and trusted-adults with the ability to set age-appropriate parameters related to their child's online communications, content development and community based activities. -- All imbee.com subscribers receive an unparalleled level of protection including user authentication, content privacy, controlled scope of publishing and built-in a parental dashboard for insight and control.
