Raketu Launches New iPhone Web Application
Internet protocol applications company Raketu Communications has launched its VoIP calling web application for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch for making low-cost international calls.
According to the company, its new iPhone application is entirely web-based and does not require any download. The user has to just sign up for Raketu and access the service via their iPhone or iPod Touch web browser at iphone.raketu.com. Users can make a payment of $9.95, $24.95 or $49.95 to their Raketu account and are eligible for up to 1,200 free calling minutes per month towards iPhone initiated phone-to-phone calls.
This web-based application allows Apple iPhone and iPod Touch users to make international calls totally free or at low cost VoIP calling rates. The users can also send SMS and e-mails using this application, the company claimed.
In June 2007, the company launched web-based telephony service, the RakWeb, which offers combined features of Skype and Jajah tied to a single Raketu VoIP account. The service enabled iPhone users to make long-distance and international calls at lower costs.
Recently, communications company Jajah released version 2.0 of its calling application for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch, enabling them to make low-cost international calls.
In November 2007, Avaya announced an iPhone version of its one-X Mobile client software that communicates with corporate Avaya VoIP PBXs.
