Delta Cable Deploys Narad Networks for Commercial VoIP
WESTFORD, Mass., Jan 11 /PRNewswire/ — Narad Networks, Inc., a provider of business class broadband access solutions using switched Ethernet over cable, today announced the deployment of its commercial Voice Over IP (VoIP) solution with Delta Cable Communications Ltd. in Vancouver, BC. Delta Cable deployed Narad’s solution to provide voice and data services for its customer service call center.
Narad also announced the appointment of John C. Petrillo, former executive vice president of AT&T, as its chairman of the board.
“The call center is an absolutely mission critical component for any cable operator in retaining and attracting customers, so reliability was paramount when we deployed our new voice infrastructure,” said Gordie Duncan, Manager of Systems Engineering at Delta Cable. “Narad’s ability to seamlessly utilize our current cable network to deliver advanced, reliable commercial class services was a key differentiator in the selection. The installation of their technology was virtually ‘plug-and-play,’ and we were actually able to install the equipment ourselves. We have trusted Narad technology for our call center, demonstrating the tremendous confidence we have in them and their products.”
“Delta Cable is on the forefront when launching new, innovative technology and their trust in Narad products for voice services is strong validation of our technology,” said James D Norrod, president and chief executive officer of Narad Networks. “We’re also very pleased to have the guidance and counsel of an industry veteran on our board. John’s expertise and extensive background in telecommunications will be invaluable during this exciting time for the industry as commercial services are increasingly gaining in the operators’ mindshare.”
Mr. Petrillo recently retired from AT&T, and was its most senior executive responsible for global corporate strategy and business development. His background includes the global business communications services market, domestic and international public and private board positions, and business strategy development, investment and partnership negotiation experiences in the wireless, cable, Internet and global business communications sectors.
Narad provides cable operators cost effective solutions to create new, managed, symmetric capacity on existing cable networks for offering services such as Voice Over IP, T1/E1 voice, symmetric broadband Ethernet up to 100 Mbps, and virtual private networks. The company recently launched its fully Passive Architecture which requires only passive diplex filters to touch the HFC network, thereby enabling its switched Ethernet overlay to be added transparently to the current services while still sharing the existing coaxial cable.
