DALLAS & SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 24, 2003--

i2 Transportation and Distribution Management Solution Able to

Process More Than 1.4M Transactions Per Day in Controlled Testing

Environment on Solaris OS Servers

i2 Technologies, Inc. (OTC:ITWO) and Sun Microsystems today announced the expansion of their global technology alliance with the availability of i2's Transportation and Distribution Management (TDM) solutions on the Solaris(TM) operating system (OS). Named by Gartner Dataquest as the UNIX OS server leader in marketshare units and revenue, Sun's Solaris OS is a preferred UNIX-based OS for i2 TDM solutions which encompass transportation planning, (i.e. transportation manager) and transportation optimizer.

Availability of i2's TDM solutions on Solaris helps provide increased customer service levels, improved asset utilization and reduced operating costs, according to early testing results from a controlled environment study at i2's Markham, Canada testing facility. Those results showed TDM solutions running on Solaris achieved complete shipment execution processing of over 1.4 million transactions in a 24-hour period.

"With the launch of i2 Six, we made certain revisions to offer our customers a wider depth and breadth of options when it comes to the solutions and systems they select. The latest version of i2 Transportation and Distribution Management has been tuned for UNIX, on Sun's Solaris OS. As a result, several individual i2 transportation solutions can be integrated into a single workflow, and customers are able to run both the database and the application servers simultaneously," said Pallab Chatterjee, i2 president, Solutions Operations. "Working with a world-class partner like Sun is a very important element of our business -- and our customer's business -- today and in the future."

Transportation and distribution management solutions can help companies efficiently procure, plan, execute and monitor freight movements across modes, borders and enterprises. These solutions are designed to create sustainable value by synchronizing all critical transportation and distribution business processes resulting in optimal cost and service performance.

"Since the inception of this partnership, it has been our goal to expand our role as a better business partner, and deliver scalable solutions to market in a way that best suits the needs of our customers," said Stuart Wells, senior vice president, market development, Sun Microsystems. "Likewise, expanding our relationship and wrapping the benefits of the Solaris OS around i2's comprehensive line of transportation solutions, enables Sun to deliver the security and reliability of Solaris into new market segments."

Today's announcement follows on the heels of a joint initiative established between Sun and i2 to capture the growing market opportunity for highly reliable, scalable and secure service and parts management solutions. Customers interested in any of i2's best in class solutions, running on any combination of Sun software and hardware, can "test before they invest" by building proof-of-concepts -- at no charge -- at any of Sun's iForce(SM) Solution Centers or Certified Solution Centers, located around the world.
