FOSTER CITY, Calif., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Furthering its leadership as the premier provider of solutions that secure, manage, and extend instant messaging (IM) and peer-to-peer (P2P) applications, FaceTime today announced two major appointments to its executive team: Marcus Smith has been named CFO bringing over 19 years of top level financial executive experience at technology companies. Deric Moilliet has been appointed vice president of International Sales. Mr. Moilliet, an industry veteran, brings 23 years of information technology sales experience to FaceTime.
"We anticipate rapid growth both here and abroad, and these appointments will put FaceTime in a position to capitalize on and manage that growth," said Kailash Ambwani, president and CEO of FaceTime Communications. "Marcus will be invaluable in ensuring FaceTime's solid financial footing as the company continues to grow."
Smith brings a wealth of experience at public and high-growth private companies in both the consumer and IT security markets. Most recently, he was vice president of finance at NetScreen where he helped oversee the company's acquisition by Juniper and led integration efforts for NetScreen's acquisition of Neoteris, Inc. Before NetScreen, Smith worked for digital media, entertainment and consumer electronics company SONICblue for five years. He began as the vice president of finance for ReplayTV and was promoted to CFO in April, 2002 shortly after SONICblue acquired the company. At SONICblue, Smith oversaw the acquisition of two companies, reduced operating expenses by over 25 percent and contributed to the company's rapid growth to over $300 million in revenues. Prior to working at SONICblue, Smith held the corporate controller position at software and scanning solutions provider Storm Technology where he oversaw the financial aspects of integrating an acquired product line and was instrumental in preparing the early-stage company for an IPO. Prior to Storm Technology, Smith worked for Price Waterhouse for 11 years.
Moilliet will play a crucial role in increasing FaceTime's international footprint. He will be in charge of expanding the company's already-leading presence in the fast-growing European and Asia-Pacific markets for IM and P2P management solutions.
"FaceTime has penetrated the North American market with great success," said Kailash Ambwani. "We are confident that Deric's global sales expertise will help take the company to the next level by accelerating our growth and execution beyond North America."
Most recently, Moilliet served as senior vice president of Sales for Maplesoft, a developer of advanced mathematical and analytical software. Mr. Moilliet was instrumental in leading the company's international expansion, resulting in dramatic revenue growth. Prior to Maplesoft, he was vice president of global accounts for Genesys Conferencing, a leader in integrated audio, video and Web conferencing and collaboration services. While at Genesys, Moilliet was responsible for the company's largest global accounts.
Mr. Moilliet has held vice president of Sales positions with several venture- backed start-ups and began his sales career at Sun Microsystems and Sybase.
"With the company's established leadership position in technology and their world class customer base, FaceTime is well positioned for further expansion into the global market," said Mr. Moilliet. "I look forward to expanding the company's international presence and helping multi-national corporations benefit from FaceTime's superior products worldwide."
