Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer Matsushita Electric has collaborated with US-based search giant Google to offer internet-ready plasma TVs for browsing photos and videos online.
Matsushita said that through its Panasonic brand, it will launch plasma TVs that will allow users to search and watch videos from Google's video-sharing website YouTube and photos from the online Picasa web albums.
Panasonic said that it will launch the TVs in North America during spring this year and will also be responsible for the copyright management of the content globally.
Merwan Mereby, vice president at Panasonic said: "Panasonic's cooperation with YouTube and Google's Picasa web albums exemplifies our commitment to leading the natural evolution of the internet and extending it to the high definition TV."
Earlier this week, Panasonic's rival Sony launched the first of its planned YouTube brand channels to deliver shortened versions of TV programming as well as original content. Last year, Apple also launched a set-top box for transmitting YouTube video clips to big-screen TVs.
