MPC Computers and Apptis Inc. Team to Provide Computer Products to US Coast Guard
MPC Computers, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MPC Corporation (AMEX:MPZ), announced today that it will team up with prime contractor Apptis, Inc. to fulfill a multi-year contract to supply desktop and notebook PCs to the US Coast Guard.
The desktop and notebook products will be supplied under the Department of Homeland Security’s five-year FirstSource contract with Apptis. MPC will supply the desktop and notebook products, while Apptis, as a prime contractor, will administer the contract and provide the primary point of contact with the Coast Guard.
“MPC is extremely pleased to partner with Apptis to meet the needs of the US Coast Guard, whose active duty force encompasses more than 40,000 people,” said Mark Cox, MPC’s area vice president of federal sales. “We have met the Coast Guard’s needs for PCs for both administrative use and in Coast Guard vessels for the past eight years, backing our systems with a customized service and support program. We are gratified to be selected to continue this important relationship in partnership with Apptis.”
Cox added, “Our recent acquisition of Gateway’s Professional business unit, including its federal business, positions us to be an even better supplier to the Coast Guard and other federal agencies. Our increased scale should result in more focused products, services and solutions for government, education and business customers.”
“We are looking forward to partnering with MPC on this contract,” said Stu Strang, senior vice president, public sector at Apptis, Inc. “We believe that our contract management, coupled with MPC’s high-quality products will deliver tremendous value to the US Coast Guard.”
