Bed Brings Tech to Bedroom in New Way

January 11, 2008

Do you have a big-screen TV in your room? How about a cell phone charger? Manufacturer Leggett & Platt Inc. wants to take things a bit further and bring some of these tech gadgets right to your bed.

The company plans to sell a new bedroom ensemble, the Starry Night Sleep Technology Bed. Shown at the International Consumer Electronics Show, this bed comes with features such as wireless Internet connectivity, an iPod docking station, surround sound speakers, LCD projector, dual temperature controls as well as DVR capability.

The bed will also come with a vibration-detection feature that will elevate that half of the bed 7 degrees if a user is snoring and then return to the original position once the snoring stops, according to Leggett & Platt.

The company plans to unleash the Starry Night bed to the public in the first half of 2009 for a mere $20,000 to $50,000 depending on the features that a consumer chooses.
