Internet Photos Lead to Arrests for Underage Drinking in DuPage County
By Chicago Tribune
Jan. 12–DUPAGE COUNTY — A DuPage County woman and four Glenbard South High School students were arrested Thursday after authorities discovered photos posted on the Internet of an underage drinking party, the DuPage County sheriff’s office said Friday.
A DuPage County sheriff’s deputy assigned to Glenbard South found the photographs this week from a party held Jan. 5 at a home in unincorporated Lombard. The officer identified the four students pictured in the photos and learned during the investigation that the party was held at a home in the 21W200 block of Coronet Road, where Jessica Holz, 34, lives. Police allege Holz was home during the party and knew children were drinking alcohol.
Investigators are relying more on blog social-networking sites to investigate underage drinking, said Dawn Domrose, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.
Holz, who is related to one of the four students, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The students were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.
In Lake County in September, two Deerfield parents were convicted of criminal charges after holding a party that two teens attended before dying in a drunken-driving crash.
