MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- TimesTen, Inc., a provider of real-time infrastructure software, today announced that Mobitex Technology AB, who designs, supplies and supports wireless packet-switched data networks, has incorporated TimesTen(R)/DataServer, a real-time database system, into the new Mobitex(R) MSN Network Switch. TimesTen was chosen to ensure that dynamic subscriber data, specifically routing information, is managed with high- reliability and predictable real-time performance. Mobitex also selected TimesTen for its ability to speed time-to-market and its minimal maintenance requirements.
The MSN Switch is a packet switching node capable of scaling from small private to large public networks, providing an efficient platform for IP connectivity and Internet-enabled Mobitex networks. Mobitex networks support mission-critical services including police and fire, ambulance, security and surveillance, as well as a number of commercial solutions raging from telematics, wireless monitoring, and machine-to-machine communication. As the MSN Switch holds the data for all subscribers currently roamed into its area of the network, Mobitex integrated TimesTen(R)/DataServer to manage all subscriber routing information. This is a vital function for maintaining high performance and access to services, especially when powering secure networks such as emergency response services or law enforcement, where highly reliable communication is crucial.
"Mobitex is at the forefront of providing secure, reliable, cost-effective solutions for dedicated wireless data networks," said Christian Olesen, CTO at Mobitex Technology AB. "As we evolve our offerings to meet customer requirements, it's critical that real-time performance, always-on reliability and portability remain our foundation. TimesTen provides a commercial off-the-shelf solution to these challenges, freeing us to focus on our core competencies and get our solutions to market faster," added Christian Olesen.
"As networks converge there is a growing need to carve out private networks to enable secure communications," said Jim Groff, CEO, TimesTen, Inc. "TimesTen is pleased to be a key component in helping Mobitex deliver an industry-leading solution to enterprises and operators," added Groff.
