AirMagnet Receives Funding From Intel Communications Fund

Posted on: Monday, 24 January 2005, 09:00 CST

AirMagnet, the leader in wireless LAN (WLAN) security and performance solutions, today announced that it is receiving an investment from Intel Communications Fund. This investment will be used to help expand the company's solutions to manage wireless in the mobile enterprise. As one of its first projects, AirMagnet will implement its Enterprise SmartSensor software on Intel(R) based Access Point (AP) reference platforms, starting with the Intel(R) IXP425 network processor, to provide Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) solutions for Intel partners and channels.

"As Wi-Fi becomes more widespread, security has grown to be an issue of utmost importance," said Sriram Viswanathan, managing director of Intel Capital's Mobile Communications Sector. "Our investment in AirMagnet reflects our desire to support the development of wireless security technologies that will alleviate security concerns and prevent them from impeding the growth of Wi-Fi."

"AirMagnet has achieved several key milestones recently, from signing on more than 3,000 unique customers to posting our ninth consecutive quarter of growth and profitability," said Dean Au, chief executive officer of AirMagnet. "This new investment will help us expand our product offerings and help fuel our continued, steady growth. We look forward to working with Intel."
