Belden CDT Networking(TM) Introduces PowerSense(TM) Power Distribution Products for the Efficient, Reliable Delivery of Power Over Ethernet
Posted on: Monday, 24 January 2005, 15:00 CST
FORT MILL, S.C., Jan 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Belden CDT Networking announces its PowerSense line of high-performance power distribution products, designed specifically for Power over Ethernet applications. Power over Ethernet infrastructure technology enables power to be delivered to network devices such as IP telephones, wireless LAN access points, security cameras, access control devices and other enterprise terminals over the existing data connection (standard Category 5 or better LAN cabling), without modifying or replacing the infrastructure already in place. Power over Ethernet is also a necessity for the Voice-over-IP (VoIP) solution, as this service requires an alternative power source for IP telephones.
Belden CDT Networking's PowerSense Technology: A Leading-Edge, Modular Approach
Belden CDT Networking's PowerSense Midspan In-Line Hubs add power to the spare pairs of the system's network cable without disturbing the transmission of data. Similar to patch panels, these hubs are installed between the existing Ethernet switch and the LAN devices.
PowerSense Midspan hubs offer several outstanding features and benefits for the Power over Ethernet network, including:
-- 24, 20, 10 and 1-port modular chassis designs that enable users to
install additional modules as needed, making the system both flexible
and scaleable
-- Each PowerSense module auto-detects the device's power requirements
and allows for transparent 10/100 Mb/s data transmission
-- Each module port is 'hot swappable,' allowing maximum uptime and easy,
cost-effective maintenance
PowerSense Midspan hubs fully comply with stringent IEEE 802.3af standards (PoE Protocol), meet FCC requirements, and are compatible with Cisco CDP(TM)- enabled Ethernet switches. Additionally, they have been CE and CB tested and are approved for worldwide use.
Complementing PowerSense Midspan power hubs is a comprehensive line of network connectivity components. The line includes PoE connectors, Plug and Play Ethernet and Fast Ethernet media converters, UTP or Fiber Optic transceivers, an Ethernet hub that accepts UTP, Fiber Optic or BNC transceivers, and the Realtime(TM) Ethernet Network Tester.
All PowerSense products carry a full two-year warranty and are manufactured and tested to conform to the following quality and environmental standards:
-- Safety: UL 1950, EN 60950, CSA 22, 2N, 950
-- Functional: PLS and AUI Specification ISO 8802.3 Sec 7, 14 and IEEE
802.3, 802.3af and Ethernet version 2.0
-- RFI /Emissions: FCC 20780 (Class A), VDE 0871B, CISPR 22 Class B
certification (Business or Residence)
