NLM Strategic Alliance With A3 Integration Will Offer Expanded Supply-Chain and Transportation Capabilities
DETROIT, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ — Detroit-based third-party logistics provider NLM ( http://www.nlmi.com/ ) announced today it has formed a strategic alliance with A3 Integration (A3i) ( http://www.a3i.com/ ), an Ann Arbor, Mich.-based software systems integrator. This alliance will offer clients a wider range of technology and services. In addition, NLM has taken a minority equity position in A3i, the terms of which were not disclosed.
NLM provides a comprehensive suite of integrated logistics services including critical, dynamic, specialized and container (racks) transportation management; inventory control and compliance, sub-assembly and sequencing on- site services; and software solutions. This AllWays On approach ensures the right solution for each client’s specific need.
A3i is a privately held software systems integrator specializing in real- time transportation network optimization and order management; operating as a SaaS compliant model (Software as a Service). A3i wraps its services around a technological platform powered by Oracle’s state of the art Transportation Order Management System, thus relieving its clients of the need to buy, configure, install and maintain expensive and sophisticated software. A3i is extending those services to complement NLM’s expanding logistics offerings.
Lorne Darnell, CEO and Founder of A3i, points out that “the constant upheaval in automotive production schedules is creating a new demand for real- time Transportation Order Management systems that can better react to plant closures, automotive supplier resourcing decisions, severe and frequent volume swings and shorter product life-cycles. Deploying a robust real-time transportation systems architecture gives materials managers a new tool to better control and improve carrier asset utilization and inventory turns.”
“A3i is an attractive partner for NLM because of our shared philosophies, most notably in the dynamic shipment arena,” said Scott Taylor, CEO of NLM. “Combining NLM and A3i’s products, technologies and complementary services offers our customers new paths to cost savings and assured quality deliveries.”
Both companies are committed to moving the logistics industry closer to a more flexible and responsive operating environment. The alliance is the latest outcome of NLM’s strategy for growth and for elevating its leading position in the logistics marketplace.
“Customers will benefit from A3i’s strong technology and real-time performance, and NLM’s proprietary technology and advanced event-management infrastructure,” said Greg Humes, president of NLM. “This alliance allows both A3i and NLM to offer new modes and an increased portfolio of services.”
