Independent Catholic Group to Ordain Woman

An independent Catholic parish in California plans to ordain a woman priest.
Elizabeth English is not only female, she is a mother and involved in a long-term same-sex relationship, The Sacramento Bee reported.
Good Shepherd Parish in Sacramento is part of a network of independent Catholic churches, with four in Phoenix and one in Portland, Ore. Tony Prandini, pastor of Good Shepherd, said there are about 600 people in the six congregations, including 30 in Sacramento.
They're not part of our church, said the Rev. James Murphy, spokesman for the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento. They do what they feel is right for them. Certainly, that would not be a valid ordination in the Roman Catholic Church.
English, confirmed in the Catholic Church in 2004, describes herself as Catholic to the core, although she switched to Good Shepherd last year. She says she is answering a call from God.
Saturday's ordination will take place in a Lutheran church because Good Shepherd's normal meeting place is not large enough to accommodate it.

Posted by Bex on 01/19/2008, 00:24 Women can want to become priests all they want, it cannot happen. It is INVALID! This is not of God, it is not in the Catechism or the bible. They are making their own rules and are being completely disobedient in the process. Obedience is a great test for us all and it is not about men being better than women, it is about what God has ordained and decided and if He said so, it is so! Not up for questioning by those who cannot accept it as it is. Instead they must alter it to suit themselves. Twisting and deleting aspects of the bible that make them angry or uncomfortable. If so, then LEAVE the church. Instead they would rather stay and contaminate the true teachings. IF these women really were interested in Christ and being holy, they would be obedient to the Pope, to the church, to the word of God, not to their own "promptings". Being a priest is an incredible calling, but it is not for women. That is GOD'S BUSINESS! Oneday we will find out why. For now, let's accept His word and follow it to the best of our ability. Those who fall for the liberal modernism of the day, rather than follow the true Catholic faith will have a lot to answer for! |

Posted by Bex on 01/19/2008, 00:15 Thank GOODNESS there are still Catholics out there loyal to the Pope and the teachings of the bible and catechism, who are not interested in making their own rules because...."it suits their "feelings" or lifestyle". This goes for the ten commandments also. They too are not up for question or subject to the fashion of the day. God's word is older than time and is timeless! As if anybody could be more modern than God lol. Sin is the same then as it is now and is just as serious as it ever was. No amount of "new age" babble will change that. Just another trick of the Devil to gain more souls in his direction, whilst appealing to their pride! "Professing to be wise, they become fools". |

Posted by Maryanne on 01/18/2008, 20:41 We must pray for these people who are not honoring Jesus as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. There is only one true Catholic faith and its dogmas cannot be changed. To be faithful means to accept all the teachings of the Magesterium. She is telling God that she will not accept Him but will make herself a god. Let us pray that God's grace can enter their hearts and they will become faithful. |

Posted by George R. Kadlec on 01/18/2008, 13:35 It would seem to me that the definition of female catholic priest is an oxymoron or a regular moron. If anything, it should be female catholic priestess. It seems like most people have fecal material for brains - sad commentary on humanity. |
