AT&T Boosts Bandwidth Choices and Speed With 10 Mbps Offer for U-Verse Customers

SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Millions of consumers now have a new option to keep them surfing in the fast lane with the nation's leading provider of broadband services. AT&T Inc. has announced plans to offer AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Max in February 2008. The new tier, available exclusively to AT&T U-verse(SM) customers across the country, will deliver more bandwidth and faster available speeds -- up to 10 Mbps downstream and up to 1.5 Mbps upstream.
AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Max will be available for $55 a month when bundled with U-verse TV. Professional installation is included for new U-verse customers, and existing U-verse Internet customers can upgrade their package at any time without additional installation costs or appointments.
Customers also gain access to the nation's largest Wi-Fi network with free unlimited connectivity at more than 10,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hot spots, and wireless home networking is included. AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet service provides virtually unlimited e-mail storage and industry-leading safety and security features.
"With our new Max tier, customers will get more available speed, at a great value, in addition to enhanced features that are integrated with AT&T U-verse TV," said Bob Bickerstaff, AT&T vice president of Data Products. "We look forward to bringing our customers even more innovative services that leverage the strength of our U-verse network."
Because of the power of AT&T's Internet Protocol (IP)-based network, customers with bundled U-verse services enjoy advanced capabilities that integrate their TV and Internet services. U-verse TV and Internet customers have the unique ability to program their DVR (included with most programming packages) while away from home -- from any PC or compatible wireless phone -- using their AT&T Yahoo! account. Customers also have the option to personalize the AT&T U-bar, where available, to display weather for specific locations, scores for their favorite sports teams and stocks from their portfolio on their TV screens.
"The reasons to choose AT&T over cable keep adding up," said Bickerstaff, "and we're continuing to enhance our services to offer what our customers want -- for an experience that our competitors can't match."
AT&T is the largest provider of broadband service, with 13.8 million broadband lines in service as of the third quarter of 2007. AT&T U-verse services are available to millions of homes across 12 states.
