Wakefern Awards AT&T Voice and Network Data Services Contract

KEASBEY, N.J., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. has announced a contract with Wakefern Food Corporation, a leading retailer-owned cooperative in the United States. The four-year contract provides wide area network (WAN) and managed services solutions. AT&T will connect Wakefern's 250-plus domestic stores and corporate offices by using innovative managed data services over a Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network with DSL backup. AT&T will also provide an extension of the company's AT&T Business Network Voice Services.
Wakefern needed to address the issue of rolling out new applications that would require increased bandwidth over a more reliable network. A team of AT&T Integration Solutions specialists and members of AT&T's solution provider, Alliant Technologies, worked closely with Wakefern to design a cost-effective solution that delivers expanded bandwidth for new applications, with network reliability delivered through DSL backup.
"The seamless, integrated AT&T solution addresses technology issues that result in a better in-store experience for our customers while helping us to control technology costs," said Charles Hawalka, manager for Wakefern's Communications and Information Services Division.
