QLogic Selects AMCC Storage Processor for Router Products

Applied Micro Circuits Corporation, a provider of optical transport and storage solutions, has that QLogic Corporation, a supplier of high performance storage networking solutions, has selected its PowerPC 440SP storage processor for its SANbox 6140 intelligent storage routers.
Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) claims that SANbox 6140 provides low cost, storage area network (SAN) connectivity services for the entire enterprise with performance to support up to 512 servers and wizard-based configuration.
The AMCC PowerPC 440SP storage processor enables the new QLogic storage router products to deliver unmatched performance, flexibility for SAN connectivity by routing standard Ethernet, via iSCSI, to a Fiber Channel controller for simultaneous storage access from Fiber Channel and Ethernet-based networks. With multiple PCI-X version 2.0 interfaces, on-chip double data rate (DDR I/DDR II) SDRAM controller, a high bandwidth internal crossbar bus structure, optional RAID acceleration engine, and a rich peripheral mix, the PowerPC 440SP processor is ideally suited for SAN equipment.
