The NewsMarket Announces Record-Breaking Video Requests for Auto Content, Launches Dedicated Auto Shows Channel
Posted on: Tuesday, 29 January 2008, 12:00 CST
Automotive content remains the most popular amongst media and online audiences, according to new stats announced today by The NewsMarket, the leading web-based video marketing and delivery platform. The company reported that video requests for automotive content soared by 40% in the first three weeks of January driven by the launch of Tata's "People's Car" at the New Delhi Auto Show and content from the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
More than 500 media outlets in 60+ countries requested video from this year's Detroit Auto Show, an increase of 55% versus 2007. Automotive brands including General Motors, Hyundai, Volvo Cars, Rolls-Royce Cars, Maserati, BMW, Land Rover, Mazda, Nissan, Porsche and Volkswagen uploaded their video to The NewsMarket during the show to make it easily accessible to journalists and online audiences globally.
The most downloaded clips were:
- General Motors' 2009 Corvette ZR1
- The Cadillac CTS Coupe concept
- Land Rover's LRX 2008 concept
- Unveiling of Hyundai's new Genesis
- Maserati's launch of its new Quattroporte range
In light of this surge in interest, the company also announced the launch of a new dedicated channel to capture the latest video highlights from automotive trade shows around the world. The Auto Shows Channel (www.thenewsmarket.com/autoshows) will officially launch on March 4th around the Geneva Motor Show and will enable journalists and bloggers to view, order and embed original video content from all major automotive trade shows and other industry news and events.
As automotive companies continue to diversify their marketing activities to capture new customers, online video is being increasingly used to engage directly with key audiences. Since The NewsMarket's launch in 2003, automotive content has generated more demand by news organizations seeking video than any other segment in the company's growing video catalogue. The company fulfills an average of 2,000 video orders a month for automotive video and usage has more than doubled in the last two years.
"Interest in cars is truly universal and the sector is sparking tremendous consumer and media interest all over the world, amongst traditional media, online and in the influential blogosphere," said The NewsMarket's CEO and Co-Founder Shoba Purushothaman. "Automotive brands have a unique opportunity to leverage this interest to get their brand messages out and, given the highly visual nature of the industry, video remains the best way to do so."
"We think that our new Auto Shows Channel will quickly become the global destination for automotive content," added Ms. Purushothaman. "In essence, by acting as a single, go-to source for car-related stories, our new channel will serve as the world's biggest free dealership for automotive news video."
The automotive site is the first of several thematic channels that The NewsMarket plans to launch in the coming months to meet special-interest demands of the company's media users.
