Matisse Networks adopts FASTPATH(R) 4.2 software to enable new distributed multi-protocol switch
LVL7 Systems, Inc., the leading provider of production-ready networking software to communication system manufacturers around the world, has announced the general-availability of FASTPATH(R) 4.2 software. Among the new features offered in this fourth-generation software product is the ability to support 10-Gigabit Ethernet switching platforms. This is an industry first for commercially-available networking software.
Matisse Networks, Inc. is one of the first companies to use the latest version of LVL7's award-winning product, selecting FASTPATH networking software for its yet-to-be-announced product.
"Time-to-market is a critical factor for early-stage companies introducing a first product," said Sam Mathan, Matisse Networks' CEO. "With the core networking protocols and advanced features inherent in FASTPATH software, we were able to jumpstart the entire development process and still incorporate our unique capabilities."
"Matisse Networks clearly understands the new go-to-market model for building Ethernet systems," said Al Bender, LVL7 CEO. "We're pleased Matisse turned to LVL7 for a production-ready software solution that could accelerate product availability without compromising quality or performance attributes. The marketplace is eager to adopt breakthrough technology products that are cost-effective to deploy."
With every software release, LVL7 conducts extensive integration and system-level testing. This effort not only certifies performance, it also keeps FASTPATH software in synch with customer requirements and the latest silicon and embedded operating system advances of LVL7's alliance ecosystem suppliers.
Major changes in the latest version, including the ability to enable new generations of 10-Gigabit Ethernet systems, are focused on six additional integration capabilities that now equip FASTPATH software to support:
-- two Broadcom(R) StrataXGS(R) silicon products - the BCM5673 for 10-Gigabit Ethernet systems, and the BCM5650 for Fast Ethernet products;
-- two SwitchCore Xpeedium2(TM) silicon products - the CXE-1100 for Fast and Gigabit Ethernet systems and the CXE-2130 for Gigabit systems; and,
-- two updated operating system releases - MontaVista(R) Linux(R) 3.1, and version 2.0 of the Wind River(R) Platform for Network Equipment.
As an integral part of the 4.2 release, LVL7 also has made enhancements to all the FASTPATH software modules - Switching, Routing, Quality of Service, Management, Multicast, and BGP-4. Available in binary, linkable object, and source code versions, the new 4.2 software is already being applied to multiple product-design projects for LVL7 manufacturing customers.
