Sanyo Electric to Fully Own TV JV With Taiwan Firm
Osaka, Jan. 30 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s Sanyo Electric Co. said Wednesday that it will take full control of a television set-making joint venture with Taiwan’s Quanta Computer Inc. by the end of March.
The joint firm, Sanyo Visual Technology Inc., was set up in October 2006 and is owned 81 pct by Sanyo Electric and 19 pct by Quanta Computer.
Sanyo Electric will buy all of the Quanta Computer-held stake in Sanyo Visual Technology, based in Daito, Osaka Prefecture, western Japan.
Sanyo Electric decided on the move in line with a planned overhaul of its organizational structure on April 1.
By making the joint venture a fully owned unit, the company hopes to produce synergies in the development of TV sets and digital cameras.END
