MONTREAL - A bail hearing is being held in Montreal Thursday for a Quebec man accused in an alleged Austrian-Canadian plot to bomb targets in Europe.
Said Namouh is attempting to secure bail after months in detention but the Crown is opposed to his release given the severity of the charges he faces.
An RCMP investigator told the hearing that Namouh had strong ties to the Global Islamic Media Front, an organization that specializes in propaganda and jihad recruitment.
Namouh's lawyer, Rene Duval, says accusations on a charge sheet don't mean his client is a terrorist.
RCMP investigator Michael Hanigan says police found dozens of videos and thousands of pictures on Namouh's computer that allegedly promoted terrorist activities.
A 21-year-old man and his wife are also charged in Austria in connection with the plot.
Neither can be named as the woman is considered a minor under Austrian law.
