U2 Boss Targets Net Theft
By MURPHY
U2 BOSS Paul McGuinness must have been fuming at the thought of how much money the band was missing out on because of illegal downloaders.
McGuinness urged internet service providers to cut off customers who steal music.
The U2 chief said a three-strike policy to block internet access for serial downloaders should be introduced to protect artists.
However Paul Durrant from the Internet Service Providers Association of Ireland said the proposals were impossible as they would breach privacy and data protection laws.
Forever the law-abiding citizen, McGuinness helped Bono and the boys avoid supporting the State’s beleaguered PAYE thousands by shifting their tax liabilities to Holland.
