Galveston police investigators arrived in Philadelphia Sunday, where a man turned himself in to police, saying he killed his 3-month-old son in Texas.
Travis Mullis unexpectedly turned himself in Friday, saying he killed the child by stomping on his head repeatedly. Mullis was being held on $1 million bail in Philadelphia after being charged with capital murder.
Galveston Police Sgt. Annie Almendarez said the investigators would interview Mullis and work with Philadelphia police to extradite him to Texas.
Bail was set at $1 million. Prosecutors said they hadn't decided whether to seek the death penalty.
A couple on a nature walk Tuesday found the body of Alijah Mullins near a sea wall. The baby's car seat was near the body.
Police then learned that a woman had been calling hospitals trying to find her son. The mother said she had last seen the infant when his father took him.
Lt. Jorge Trevino of Galveston told the Inquirer that Mullis and the mother lived in a trailer in Alvin that they shared with friends.
