Aruba Networks Certifies Compatibility of Panasonic Toughbook(R) Computers Targeted at Industrial and Other Harsh Environments

Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARUN), a global leader in wireless LANs and secure unified mobility solutions, and Panasonic Computer Solutions Company, manufacturer of durable, reliable Panasonic Toughbook(R) computers, today announced that Aruba has issued a Compatible Partner interoperability rating to the Toughbook line of Wi-Fi enabled mobile devices. This rating provides assurance to integrators and end users that the products have been tested to work well together.
"Rugged Panasonic Toughbook computers are designed to meet a wide range of industrial and defense requirements, under very harsh conditions, but their wireless connectivity is only as good and secure as the networks to which they are connected," said Kyp Walls, director, product management, Panasonic Computer Solutions Company. "Aruba's new AP-85 industrial access point family is targeted squarely at the markets our rugged computing products serve and exemplifies the value propositions we espouse. It is for these reasons that we wanted to test for interoperability with their secure, self-optimizing wireless networks, and the Compatible rating demonstrates our commitment to delivering a trouble-free user experience."
Aruba's new AP-85 Dual-Radio Outdoor Access Point family incorporates unique radio, packaging, and operational capabilities optimized for industrial environments. Featuring dual, high-power radios, a robust weather- and airborne contaminate-proof enclosure, explosive environment ATEX Zone 2 safety rated design, and a mesh mode for wire-free operation, the AP-85 is ideal for addressing difficult installation scenarios in both indoor and outdoor locations. These features facilitate fast deployment without the services of highly skilled technicians.
Aruba launched its interoperability testing program in mid-2007 to enhance the out-of-box deployment experience of integrators and end users. Pre-testing helps avoid situations in which incompatibilities, bugs, or software instability results in erratic device or network behavior.
"The objective of our interoperability testing program is to mitigate risk and simplify network integration," said Vijay Raman, Aruba's head of technical marketing. "Device manufacturers spend considerable effort enhancing the utility of their products, and many features depend on the availability of a secure wireless LAN. Panasonic's reputation for delivering and supporting reliable wireless computing is a natural combination with our new AP-85, and we want to ensure that resellers have a good installation experience by minimizing the time and effort required to set-up and maintain the network connection."
