VANCOUVER - Real estate agents are becoming a more frequent target of attackers and stalkers, according to the Canadian Real Estate Association.
The information comes out on the same day that a forensic autopsy is being preformed on 24-year-old Linsay Buziak, the Saanich, B.C., Realtor killed while showing a home over the weekend.
The association's Bob Linney says murders, stalking and attacks on real estate sales people have become an escalating problem right across the country in the last five years.
Linney says the problem seems to have grown as more Realtors put their images and contact information on the Internet.
The association has been pushing safety for several years with a guidebook, safety outlines and encouraging a buddy system when showing homes or meeting new clients.
Buziak's body was discovered in the new home listed at $964,000 that she had been asked to show, but Saanich police investigators say they have yet to link her occupation with the murder.
