Virtual Silicon's Mobilize Wins Prestigious DesignCon 2004 DesignVision Award; Industry-Leading Power Management IP Recognized As a Significant Product Innovation
Posted on: Wednesday, 2 February 2005, 15:00 CST
Mobilize(TM), the industry-leading power management IP from Virtual Silicon Technology Inc., yesterday received a 2004 DesignVision Award in the Semiconductor and IC products category at the DesignCon 2005 show in Santa Clara, CA.
The DesignVision Awards program recognizes technologies, applications, products, and services judged to be the most unique and beneficial to the industry. Winners were chosen based on the criteria of innovation, uniqueness, market impact, customer benefits and value to society.
"In 2004, Mobilize provided SoC designers a significant advance in the arena of low-power semiconductor IP," said Barry Hoberman, CEO of Virtual Silicon. "As the market for power-conscious applications such as PDAs, cell phones and MP3 players continues to grow, SoC designers need to actively push the envelope of low power design. Virtual Silicon's Mobilize product line has helped create the industry's first high-performance, low-power semiconductor IP."
The Mobilize Power Management IP platform provides an adaptive, dynamically configurable solution for reducing both static and dynamic power in 130nm SoC. Virtual Silicon's patent-pending Gate Bias(TM) technology is the key element within Mobilize. With Gate Bias, the leakage-power of an SoC is reduced by over 99% on a standard 130nm process (generic) with little sacrifice to the performance or area of the SoC. By implementing dynamic voltage and frequency scaling, SoC can achieve dynamic power reductions of up to 80%.
