GlobalLogic Launches Concept-to-Market Software Product Development

Posted on: Thursday, 7 February 2008, 09:00 CST

GlobalLogic, Inc., the leader in global product development with more than 140 technology partnerships, has launched a service designed to help new software ventures get off the ground quickly and economically. Called GlobalLogic Version 1.0(SM), it provides product or service conceptualization and software development services, along with a dedicated executive advisor and access to an ecosystem of potential clients, partners and investors. The service is aimed at early-stage software start-ups who need help turning an idea into a market-ready product, and new ventures within more established companies who need to operate at start-up speed. Version 1.0 will enable these companies to design, build and launch software products without any internal engineering staff. Sachin Saxena, an industry veteran with extensive start-up experience, will be heading this service from GlobalLogic's Silicon Valley office.

"With Version 1.0, GlobalLogic will provide everything entrepreneurs need to rapidly and qualitatively take an idea scribbled on a napkin to a product or service in the market," said Peter Harrison, chief executive officer of GlobalLogic. "By providing early innovators with end-to-end product engineering services, we let them focus on strategy, marketing, customer acquisition and go-to-market challenges. Similar to the semiconductor market, we are seeing the emergence of a new breed of 'fabless' software company and we are excited to be an enabler in this exciting new trend."

GlobalLogic Version 1.0(SM) is designed to address many of the challenges faced by early-stage technology start-ups: they need product prototypes in order to get customer and investor feedback, but lack an established engineering team and have limited resources. GlobalLogic will fill in these gaps by acting as head of engineering and, in some cases, as chief technology officer for these companies. Version 1.0 users will also benefit from the company's InfoWorld award-winning distributed Agile development method and platform, GlobalLogic Velocity(TM). Velocity shrinks the software product development lifecycle to ensure timely product releases. Additionally, by aligning its compensation with the company's business goals, GlobalLogic will help start-ups get over the initial development hump. To ensure success, GlobalLogic will carefully select the companies with which it will work, and will provide extensive business and technical support.

The service also helps established technology companies overcome the roadblocks they typically face when launching an entirely new product, such as slow internal procedures, lack of domain expertise and scarce software engineering talent. With its ecosystem of experts, proven product development methods and experience with global markets, GlobalLogic can help those companies rapidly introduce quality software products or services into new markets.

"HealthShoppr is an early adopter of the Version 1.0 service," said Vijay Goel, chief executive officer and co-founder of HealthShoppr, a company dedicated to helping consumers shop for healthcare online. "As a bootstrapping start-up, we needed to get our product offering up and running as quickly as possible to get customer and investor feedback. We chose to work with GlobalLogic rather than hire an engineering staff in-house. That, together with the business support we received from GlobalLogic, helped us hit the ground at a much faster pace than we would have alone."

Steve Fredrick of Grotech Capital Group, a long established venture firm, added: "With Version 1.0, GlobalLogic is helping early-stage start-ups get themselves in shape for venture funding in record time. Knowing the quality of GlobalLogic engineering, and its business savvy, I very much look forward to meeting the companies who take part in the program."
