Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by Golden Telecom, a facilities-based provider of integrated telecommunications and internet services, to deploy its FTTB solution to address new markets with broadband access and triple play services.
Alcatel-Lucent will supply Golden Telecom with 25,000 OmniStack 6224 ethernet switches for the development of in-building and distributed access networks, and 365 OmniSwitch 6850 Layer 3 ethernet switches for the delivery of line-rate gigabit switching and routing performance.
The company claims that its new metro ethernet network will create a flexible and reliable infrastructure for converged multimedia services delivery to residential subscribers. The Fiber-to-the Building infrastructure will ensure redundant and secure communication with full support of quality of service (QoS) - key requirements for Golden Telecom's rollout of high-speed internet access and triple play services.
Johan Vanderplaetse, president of activities in the CIS, Central and Southern Europe at Alcatel-Lucent, said: "Alcatel-Lucent's expertise in triple play and multimedia services delivery ensures continuous support for Golden Telecom's plan to enter the residential subscribers market with high-speed internet and advanced multimedia services."
