Networking giant Cisco and communications and IT company Harris have teamed to accelerate the installation of Type 1 secure wireless networks for the US federal government agencies.

Cisco said a jointly developed product will include Harris’s Type 1 wireless encryption device SecNet 54. Harris will also provide networking engineering, installation, management, support, and training. Cisco will provide routers, controllers, and other networking equipment. It will also contribute to the networking design and engineering services.

Richard Rzepkowski, vice president of communications security products at Harris RF communications, said: “Federal agencies can now obtain the best of Harris and Cisco products and expertise to develop premier Type 1 wireless solutions that meet their requirements for data confidentiality and integrity, user and device authentication, asset tracking, and intrusion detection.”
