ALK Adds Microsoft Live Search to Navigation System

ALK Technologies, a mobile satellite technologies provider, has added Microsoft's Live Search API facility to its CoPilot Live navigation system.
ALK said Live Search means mobile phone users can type in search items and CoPilot Live sends these queries to Microsoft's Live Search via the mobile internet to provide the users with location-specific information such as details of nearby businesses, shops, restaurants, or leisure facilities, which can be previewed and added to an itinerary for spoken and on-screen turn guidance. The system also offers reviews and rankings.
Michael Kornhauser, managing director and vice president of ALK Technologies, said: "CoPilot is the original connected navigation system - we were the first to integrate real-time mobile internet services as standard with our CoPilot Live location tracking service. The search experience made possible by the Live Search API is a great extension of our navigation-based mobile internet services, which provide our customers with the relevant up to date information they need, when they need it."
