Show Your Love! Ride Tri-Rail Free on Valentine’s Day

Feb. 13–Commuters can show their love for the environment by riding Tri-Rail for free on Valentine’s Day Thursday.

Passengers must have a voucher for the free ride, which can be printed from Tri-Rail’s web site, www.tri-rail.com. The vouchers are good for unlimited rides on the commuter train all day.

But wait there’s more!.

Tri-Rail also will be handing out packages of wildflower seeds to plant and a Valentine’s Day card with information on the top 10 ways to save the planet and improve the environment.

“This Valentine’s Day, we are reminding people that one of the most significant ways they can show that they care about the environment is by taking public transportation. It is one of the most important choices an individual can make toward reducing air pollution, preserving natural resources and improving our quality of life,” said Joseph Giulietti, Tri-Rail’s executive director. “This effort also coordinates nicely with Governor Crist’s mission to ‘green’ the State of Florida.”

Passengers with vouchers can request a transfer onto Miami-Dade County’s Metrorail trains from ticket agents at the Metrorail Transfer Station in Hialeah. The vouchers, however, are not good for free rides or transfers on PalmTran or Broward County Transit buses.

The promotion is costing Tri-Rail about $6,000, said Tri-Rail spokeswoman Bonnie Arnold.
