SBC Communications Announces Five-Year Optical Networking Contract With KeyCorp; SBC Companies Delivers Scalable Network Solutions for Financial Services Firm

SBC Communications Inc. (NYSE: SBC) today announced a new contract with KeyCorp (NYSE: KEY). Cleveland-based KeyCorp is one of the nation's largest bank-based financial services companies, providing investment management, retail and commercial banking, consumer finance, and investment banking products and services to individuals and companies throughout the United States.
In addition to renewing an existing contract for core local services, KeyCorp also signed a contract with SBC companies to provide a Multi-Service Optical Network Ring (MON Ring) that will include a Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) Dedicated OC-48 ring and OC-192 point-to-point and multiple Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel circuits.
The services are expected to provide KeyCorp with a highly scalable, metropolitan network solution. These services will help protect KeyCorp's data centers while establishing a single, flexible platform to unleash financial applications that will help drive top-line revenue.
