New Contract Will Help Global Company Move Toward VoIP and Video Communications
SBC Communications Inc. (NYSE:SBC) today announced a new contract with Intec Telecom Systems PLC (LSE:ITL). With U.S. headquarters in Atlanta, Intec is a market leader in billing, multi-service mediation, and real-time mobile service charging software.
Under the terms of the contract, SBC companies will provide SBC PremierSERV(SM) Network-Based Virtual Private Network (NVPN) utilizing MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) technology, SBC PremierSERV Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), and SBC PremierSERV Data CPE Support Services for U.S. Intec locations, while NTT America will manage Arcstar Global IP-VPN (MPLS) service to support Intec's global network across Canada, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Together, these services will help provide improved communications among Intec employees as well as help establish a platform to provide additional support for future video applications and VoIP capabilities.
"We were looking for a company that could provide us with a dependable, managed network solution in order to streamline our communications," said Jim Hammar, assistant global IT director for Intec. "Intec's familiarity with the strength of SBC companies' underlying operational support systems (OSS) was a strong factor in our decision.
