STOUGHTON – A basement fire caused about $100,000 in damage to a home at 26 School St. on Friday, fire Lt. Bill Carreiro said. The fire remains under investigation.
Carreiro said the source may have been a motorcycle that caught fire, possibly the result of fumes from gasoline in its tank.
The blaze at the 2 1 /2 -story house started at 3:30 p.m. and was out about an hour later, Carreiro said. There were no injuries.
Stoughton firefighters were assisted by an Easton engine and a Canton ladder, while Randolph and Avon firefighters covered the Stoughton station.
