Posted on: Thursday, 21 February 2008, 09:00 CST

RAMALLAH, Palestine and MODIIN, Israel, February 21 /PRNewswire/ -- G.ho.st(TM) (the Global Hosted Operating System, pronounced "ghost") (http://g.ho.st/), which provides a free Web-based Virtual Computer (VC), announced today that it has successfully migrated all of its data operations to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

G.ho.st is now outsourcing all of its operations to AWS so that the revolutionary G.ho.st Virtual Computer service is now also running on a virtualized data center. G.ho.st utilizes AWS services including the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), the Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS) and Amazon Simple Database (Amazon SimpleDB).

According to G.ho.st Founder & CEO Zvi Schreiber, "G.ho.st is utilizing AWS to ensure the complete scalability and quality-of-service of our Virtual Computer service, while providing the very best available security and backup for user data. We also find AWS to be extremely cost effective, helping to keep the Virtual Computer absolutely free for all users."

The G.ho.st VC includes 3GB of free file storage, hosted on Amazon S3. By using Amazon S3, G.ho.st can extend to their users the same secure and reliable technology infrastructure that Amazon.com uses in its own retail business.

"The goal of Amazon Web Services is to enable companies of all sizes to develop innovative new products and services for their customers, without having to worry about the hassle and expense of maintaining a massive web-scale infrastructure on the back end." said Steve Rabuchin, Director of Developer Relations for Amazon Web Services. "We're pleased that G.ho.st can utilize Amazon Web Services to expand its offering to its customers."
