Edgewater Networks, Inc. 4500T4 Network Services Gateway Selected for Covad Business T1 and Bonded T1 Services

February 21, 2008

Edgewater Networks, Inc. announced today that Covad Communications Group, Inc. (AMEX: DVW), a leading national provider of integrated voice and data communications, has certified and is now using the EdgeMarc 4500T4 Network Services Gateway to deliver its Business T1 and Bonded T1 Services. The EdgeMarc 4500T4 Network Services Gateway is installed at the enterprise edge and is used to provide T1 and Bonded T1 termination and IP routing services.

The EdgeMarc 4500T4 Network Service Gateway includes up to 4 x T1 CSU/DSU ports, a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Wide Area Network (WAN) port and an integrated 4 x 10/100 Mbps managed VLAN Ethernet switch. It is a scalable routing solution that can be installed initially with a single T1 line and then upgraded via license key to support multiple T1 links without requiring additional hardware. The 4500T4 is remotely manageable and supports many standard interfaces including SNMP, SSH, Telnet and Http/https.

It is also a flexible, application ready platform that can be deployed initially as a WAN access router and then expanded to support other applications such as Hosted PBX, SIP trunking, managed VPN and enterprise video over IP. This flexibility enables service providers to avoid the costly replacement of customer premises equipment (CPE) usually associated with the introduction of more advanced services to enterprise customers.

“The EdgeMarc 4500T4 is a great addition to the portfolio of CPE provided by Covad. Edgewater Networks’ license key approach to upgrades helps us to reduce costs while enabling us to deliver advanced services to our customers quickly,” said Lisa Graham, General Manager of Wholesale Services for Covad.

“We are proud that Covad has selected the EdgeMarc 4500T4 for its Business T1 and Bonded T1 Services. As a market leader, Covad’s approval and use of our product is a great endorsement of our strategy to reduce costs while providing applications ready platforms for future growth,” said Dave G. Norman, Chief Executive Officer of Edgewater Networks, Inc.

The EdgeMarc 4500T4 is a part of a complete solution from Edgewater Networks that also includes EdgeConnect Power Over Ethernet (PoE) switches and the EdgeView VoIP Support and VPN Configuration Tool. EdgeConnect PoE switches are easy to use and ideal for converged voice and data networks. They are remotely manageable and provide the quality of service (QoS) in the Local Area Network needed to ensure high voice quality. The EdgeView VoIP Support Tool simplifies the troubleshooting of voice quality problems. It provides real-time alerts based on administrator defined call quality thresholds using Mean Opinion Score (MOS) analysis.
