ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 29, 2003--
Leading Supercenter Chain Installing NCR RealPOS(TM) 80 Terminals
and Newest Version of NCR Advanced Checkout Solution Software
NCR Corporation (NYSE:NCR) announced today that Meijer, the Midwest's leading supercenter retailer, is installing NCR retail point-of-sale (POS) technology at 29 store locations.
Meijer has ordered the NCR RealPOS 80 terminal, which was introduced earlier this year, and is upgrading to version 6.0 of NCR's Advanced Checkout Solution (ACS) software. The new NCR terminals are currently installed in 14 Meijer stores, and the remaining 15 locations are scheduled for rollout by August.
"Our new NCR POS terminals will enable Meijer to implement additional applications and provide faster service at the checkout," said Meijer Senior Vice President of Operations Kevin Holt. "This investment further affirms our ongoing commitment to building strong and mutually satisfying relationships with each Meijer guest."
Introduced earlier this year, the NCR RealPOS 80 is the first point-of-sale (POS) terminal to allow for comprehensive accessibility and serviceability on replaceable parts without the use of tools.
"Meijer and other leading retailers in all market segments are increasingly turning to NCR POS technology and software," said Nelson Gomez, NCR vice president of Food Industry Solutions for the Americas. "With high-powered processors, multimedia capabilities and high-speed LAN connectivity, the NCR RealPOS 80 -- together with ACS 6.0 software -- delivers performance and flexibility for meeting retailers' real-world needs."
