Motorola has acquired the digital cable set-top product assets of privately held Zhejiang Dahua Digital and Hangzhou Image Silicon, known collectively as Dahua Digital.

Dan Moloney, president of home and networks mobility business at Motorola, said Dahua Digital’s strong time-to-market advantage, R&D capabilities, and sales reach, are a “compelling fit” with Motorola’s strategy in China.

Simon Leung, president at Motorola Asia Pacific, said the Chinese digital cable market is growing rapidly, with 130 million Chinese households currently subscribing to cable. “As customers make the transition from traditional analog solutions to digital cable, digital cable subscriptions in China are expected to grow from 10 million in 2006 to over 165 million by 2016,” he said.

Dahua Digital will be integrated into Motorola’s home and networks mobility business. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
